Art inspired by the trees, created to bring a quiet calm into your space
βSeeking beauty in the simplicity & finding meaning in the quiet moments & detailsβ
Art for calm
βI use multiple layers of paint to create heavily textured surfaces. I invite the viewer to touch & feel the artwork in the way that they would touch bark on a tree - resonating calm & harmonyβ
βMy work is a celebration of natureβs subtle beauty, an invitation to slow down, and a reminder to stay connected to the world around and within usβ

βI layer complementary colours to create harmony, contrast, and a sense of slow unfoldingβ
βIβd love to tell you more about the textures & stories that inspire my workβ

How I create⦠Find out more about my process
Creating for me is less about following steps, and more about listening β to the natural world, to stillness, and to intuition. My process is slow and intentional, shaped by quiet observation and the gentle rhythms of nature. Each piece comes together slowly, guided by feeling, texture, and instinct. Itβs not just about making art β each piece is a way of being present
-
I use Oil & wax medium a rich, versatile combination that brings depth, texture, and atmosphere to a painting. This slow-drying process blends the luminosity of oil paint with the matte, layered texture of wax. It allows for a richly built surfaceβwhere scraping, incising, and layering reveal hidden depths and create a sense of time embedded in the work.
-
Each layer of oil & wax can take days if not weeks to cure. The process becomes one of reflection and return. This rhythm of working allows the painting to unfold gradually, with as sense of time etched into its surface over the course of time. Some paintings have 3-4 layers, others have over 20.
-
My process of working with oil and wax is both intuitive and unpredictable. Each layer conceals and reveals, with textures emerging through scraping, dissolving, or subtracting. Scraping back into the wax reveals fragments of earlier gesturesβunexpected forms, echoes of colour, traces of time. My process is spontaneous, and often surprising, my paintings slowly disclose their own story beneath the surface.
-
Colour plays a central role in my process. I work with a deliberately limited palette, mixing all my hues by hand. This approach gives me a natural sense of harmony across the work. I enjoy the intention & organisation before the painting begins & can sometimes spend hours just mixing my palette ready for painting
Creating harmony between subject & source
Each piece is handframed in natural oak - a conscious choice that echoes the organic forms within the work. This connection between subject and source creates a quiet harmony, while also supporting more sustainable, lasting methods of making
